Himalaya: The High Ground
I’ll never forget visiting my first Hindu temple in the foothills of the Himalaya. This temple housed a presiding deity, Kali. The smells of incense and open cremations filled the air along with the sounds of fervent worship. Witnessing unceasing animal sacrifice for the appeasement of a false god struck my heart and mind with raw questions and wonderings. My conclusion was clear; a false priesthood had rooted itself in the highest place on earth in an effort to swallow up the fervent worship of the region that Jesus deserves and desires. I left sure that there is glory and worship due the Son in the Himalaya and the Father is zealous to give it to Him.
Prayer and worship through the priestly church being established and expanded in the region of the Himalaya is significant for three reasons:
The first and preeminent reason to labor for an unending song in the Himalaya is, and always will be, because Jesus is worthy of it. Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the Most High God (John 8:58) and His blood has ransomed for Himself a people in the most high place on earth to minister to Him (Revelation 5:9-10) day and night with the most high praise.
The significance of an intercessory cry for mercy before judgment from the high places. Throughout the prophetic scriptures, we see the Lord use the language of treading on high places in his judgments. We see one stark example of this in Micah:
For behold, the LORD is coming out of his place, and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth. And the mountains will melt under him, and the valleys will split open, like wax before the fire, like waters poured down a steep place. - Micah 1:3-4
The context of the above verses is God speaking through his prophet Micah about his coming judgment for the excessive idolatrous worship (Micah 1:7). In light of the textual prophetic motif of God trampling high places in his judgments on the earth, the significance of a priestly church being raised up in the Himalaya to cry out for mercy before judgment on behalf of the peoples of the earth cannot be overstated.
The false priesthoods of Hinduism and Buddhism have rooted themselves in the highest place on earth. When we look at scripture we see a consistent thread and theme of worship contending for the high places. You see this explicitly in the Old Testament alone 35+ times (1 Kings 3:2-3, 1 Sam. 9:12-14, Lev. 26:30, Deut. 12:2).
It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the LORD
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and it shall be lifted up above the hills;
and peoples shall flow to it - Micah 4:1
The Father desires to give Jesus worship from the highest place on earth. He will do this by establishing His house, His church, and His priesthood among the false priesthoods of Hinduism and Buddhism. By raising up a people to give Him the offering of day and night prayer.
Just as Jesus Christ saw the works of the seemingly small ancient Church of Philadelphia and opened a door with the key of David for kingdom advancement, Jesus is seeing the steadfastness of His church in the Himalaya and opening a door that no man can shut.
This 50 Hours will be pivotal and catalytic in seeing the blood-bought church in this region empowered to step through the open door for the advancement of the gospel with boldness.
I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. - Revelation 3:8
One day the false incense to false gods will be overtaken by the incense of true worship from the one true priesthood. This will come to be not by might nor power but by God’s Spirit (Zec. 4:6). I truly believe that when the extravagant and fervent worship being produced by a false priesthood in the Himalaya turns to the God of Israel it will release a sound that’s going to shake the earth. It is time to go before the Lord of the Harvest and ask him to thrust forth laborers into the ripe harvest of the Himalaya that he might receive an unending song from every single one of the hundreds of languages in the region. It is time to put our eyes on the high ground unto the return of the King and the salvation of Israel.
